TMA 4 is completed and I am waiting for the results...

I have recently completed the 4th tutor marked assignment which gave quite a good glimpse at the type of work that I'll be aiming to achieve and how to write the first link in the chain- the high concept document (HCD for short). I had to write several HCD's for the different platforms i.e. the consoles, online and PC.

I also said that I would post pics of the level that I was designing which is incomplete due to my computer once again having a massive bender! This time the damage is quite a bit more severe and requires me to get a new motherboard, and being the tech nerd that I am I thought that the processor could do with being changed as if I fit a new mobo I'm restircted if I plan it around an old processor and of course the new mobo requires new RAM. So after replacing the graphics card recently at the cost of about £200 I now need to upgrade the mobo, processor and RAM in short- Good bye cash!!

And on another note T2G has announced that after students complete their section 1 exam we will be able to apply for an NUS card. This new treat for train2game students comes in in September. Yet another nail in the coffin proving the merit of this course.

Anyway, lets not start all that again. All the best and enjoy the pics :-)

nice one Adam, good to see some non-bias information somewhere. I'm not a student at the moment but had a salesman in the house tonight so thought i'd look it up, after 2hrs of looking some decent information about the course was a welcome change.

wish you all the best for now

You're welcome Task.
I'm glad the blog is helping some people. I would recommend signing up to the train2game forum as it has helped a lot of people get answers to questions about the courses (being a fairly regular user on the forum you would be surprised how many people get mislead by "info" that is so far wrong it's unreal! You can sign up without being a student btw...)

Any way if you have any other questions that I haven't answered here then feel free to ask and I'll do my best to answer them.

Cheers,

Adam.

Hi Adam, My boyfriend has just signed up for Train to game. However, his family have been hinting at the idea of it being a scam. From what I've seen on the internet the people who say it's a scame have not been on the course and have no authority that suggests they know what a games studio classes as an appropriate qualification. When you signed up, did you struggle with the same opinions? I don't just mean on the internet but from people you know. What convinced you 100% that it was legit? For the record I think the course sounds great.

Hi Rachel,

Well to be honest I was sceptical to start with, the course has a lot of bad press but I looked for info and read the comments stating the course was bogus and tried to find out if the comments had proof and 9 times out of 10 I found that they were complete rubbish and that the genuine complaints were more like teething problems from when the courses were launched which were rectified as the courses took off.

It was only when I started reading the t2g forum posts about other people who had had similar concerns that I started to relax. It's really only since I've been involved in the course and taken part in challenges and spoken to the tutors and students etc that I've felt that the course is really getting into it's stride.

I did have some resistance from my girlfriend to start with but she has since been convinced by the course.

Feel free to have a read of my earlier posts as a lot of the research I did is there particularly "I'm 95% convinced..." and "In response to a comment" both in 2009. Hopefully these should ease his mind and maybe even his families. Also check out the forums as there are a lot of friendly people on there that are more than happy to help with any queries you might have.

Hope this helped,

Adam. :)
P.S. I'm InCOGnito on the forums...
